Question: truck alterred while reposessed, how to prove?.

My truck was repo'd 01/27/09. my loan was reinstated 01/30/09 however, the truck that the repo yard returned is quite different from the one, mine, that they took 4 days prior. the VIN matches still it is not my truck. Chop Shop job How can I prove this? the dealer I bought it from can't won't FORD credit won't law enforcement won't. What can I do? Freaked out and devastated in San Diego Ca

I'd make a list of everything that's different for starters -- interior or exterior features and options, upholstery color, carpet color, type of tires and wheels, etc. Run a Carfax report based on the VIN and that should describe your truck as it came from the factory. If anything doesn't match with what's in the report and you made no modifications, there's one piece of evidence. Was everything in the glove box the same? Did you have any identifying stickers, decals, etc., including stickers recording oil changes, maintenace and mileage? Are they still there? Is the sound system the same? Again, keep detailed records of what's different from your original truck and the returned one. If you have any photos of the interior or exterior of your car, that helps to. If no one will assist you (law enforcement, dealer, etc.) and the repo yard refuses to acknowledge their error, sue the hell out of them. Put ads in your local newspaper or on Craig's List urging others who have had bad experiences with the repo co. to contact you. It's unbelieveable that they could get away with something like that. Don't give up until you get your truck back--assuming it, too, hasn't been chopped.
